The 2nd Annual Roadrunner NM Theater Festival, staged readings of three new plays by New Mexico playwrights, will be held in May 2021 at q-Staff Theatre, Albuquerque, NM (or online; see Note below).
Blind judging: A panel of judges will read the plays without knowing the names of the authors. Each play submitted will receive a short critique from the judges.
Three plays will be chosen for presentation. Playwrights will be notified of their selection by March 31, 2021. Each play read at the Festival will be followed by a Q&A. Playwrights must be in attendance at the Festival.
Each of the 3 winning playwrights will receive a year-long subscription to Play Submissions Helper (www.playsubmissionshelper.com).
ELIGIBILITY:
All submitting playwrights must be full-time residents of New Mexico. Plays must be full-length (a minimum of 60 minutes).

NOTE: The format of the play readings will depend on COVID-19 restrictions in place at the time. If restrictions are still in place, the staged readings will be held either on Zoom or will be videotaped in the theater and shown online; talkback sessions with the playwrights will be held on Zoom. If restrictions have been lifted, the Festival will be held in the q-Staff Theatre in Albuquerque. Each play will be followed by a talkback.
Again depending on restrictions, the winning play MAY be given a full production in Albuquerque in the fall of 2021.
SUBMISSION GUIDELINES:
Deadline for submissions: Plays must be submitted beginning November 1, 2020, and received no later than January 31, 2021.
Length of play: Full-length (minimum of 60 minutes). No musicals.
Number of characters: Maximum of 6 characters.
Set specifications: Unit set or limited number of set changes.
Number of submissions per playwright: Maximum of 2 plays (no more than one play from each playwright will be presented at the Festival).
Format: All plays must be in a standard playscript format. The author's name must not appear anywhere in the document.
Title page: Title page to include only the title of the play.
Email: Include title of play, author, and contact information.
Word or PDF formats will be accepted.
No previously published or produced plays can be considered. Staged readings are allowed.
